Takeover of OSRAM tanning lamps production including Intellectual Property by NARVA Lichtquellen GmbH + Co. KG, which will become the world’s leading producer.

Takeover of the business segment of Philips Lighting B.V. and transfer to the newly founded iSOLde Licht GmbH.

Foundation of HN Sunlight GmbH as a joint venture of NARVA Lichtquellen GmbH + Co. KG together with Heraeus Noblelight GmbH.

Acquisition of Advanced UV Light GmbH (AUVL), founded in 1926. AUVL is a supplier of radiation sources and products for plant growth as well as UV lamps for material analysis and curing.

2005

Market entry into solar thermal energy business with development, production and distribution of solar thermal tubes for high quality heating and cooling applications.

2003

Acquisition of the majority share in the NARVA Lichtquellen GmbH + Co. KG in Brand-Erbisdorf.

Acquisition of a major share in the NARVA Lichtquellen GmbH + Co. KG with its headquarters in Brand-Erbisdorf (Saxony), Germany. The company specializes in the production of low-pressure fluorescent tubes.

Foundation of JW Holding GmbH as a share and management holding company.

1999

Acquisition of the trading company UV Logistic in Preston (Lancashire), UK. The company, founded in 1983, supplies as market leader, tubes and high pressure lamps for cosmetic applications.

Expansion of COSMEDICO LICHT GmbH in the field of medical technology, which concentrates on the development, production and world-wide distribution of UV-lamps for medical purposes.

The introduction of a second range of tanning lamps in the US is accompanied by the establishment of another company: KOSMEDICO, Inc., in Chicago. It was later called COSMEDICO LIGHT, Inc. and situated near Boston.

1978

Founding of WOLFF SYSTEM GmbH by Friedrich Wolff in Frankfurt/Main. This company was set up in particular to consult and support license holders. With the founding of WOLFF SYSTEM Corporation in New Jersey the same year, which operates later under the name WOLFF SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY, Inc. In Atlanta, the way for entering the US market is paved at an early stage.

1975/76

With the invention of the sunbed by Friedrich Wolff in 1975 and the founding of KOSMEDICO – Vertrieb kosmetischer und medizinischer Lampen GmbH – under the direction of Jörg Wolff in 1976, the cornerstone for the JW Holding Group in its current form was laid. The success of the new tanning technology is based on the fact that people are now able to “get a tan without getting sunburnt.” Today, KOSMEDICO operates under the name COSMEDICO LIGHT, Inc.
